Greatest Scot
In 2009, STV ran a televison series and public vote to decide who should be named as being the Greatest Scot. On St Andrew's day, STV revealed the results of the public vote, and Robert Burns was voted as being officially the Greatest Scot of all time, narrowly beating William Wallace, Scottish Patriot and Independence campaigner, for the title.

This is a picture I've placed on the home page of the main website. I'm trying to generate interest by adding something different and hopefully of value to those of you with an interest in the village

Not sure of the exact date but the general feeling is it's about 1920

What about 2010

This picture of the entrance to the harbour basin was taken at high tide. I should have taken a shot from the same position at low tide so that you could see the difference, although if you are a local you will know that most of the time either side of high tides the harbour is dry and boat movements are therefore not possible.

The Group wants to change that situation  and hope, in line with the business plan, to apply for funding in the near future to commence dredging

I'll give more detail when I can. In the meantime rest assured that progress is being made. I see first hand the efforts being made by individuals on behalf of the group and it reminds me why I'm part of it. I also know that the only time success comes before work is in the dictionary

This detailed graph shows how site visits have occurred. I hope it's of interest. It's also worth noting this would not be possible without the sponsorship provided by Taylors Pharmacy in Buckie. They have given great support over the past few years. So thank you to all concerened at Taylors Pharmacy

Well that's the website viewing figures but what's happening as regards the Groups activities - watch this space....

Just a thought for those of you that have left Scotland

The Scottish Emigrant's Farewell

Fareweel, fareweel, my native hame,
Thy lanely glens and heath-clad mountains!
Fareweel thy fields o' storied fame,
Thy leafy shaws and sparkling fountains.
Nae mair I'll climb the Pentlands steep,
Nor wander by the Esk's clear river;
I seek a hame far o'er the deep-
My native land, fareweel for ever!

Thou land wi' love and freedom crowned
In ilk wee cot and lordly dwelling
May manly-hearted youth be found,
And maids in every grace excelling.
The land where Bruce and Wallace wight
For freedom fought in days o' danger,
Ne'er crouched to proud usurping might,
But foremost stood, wrong's stern avenger.

Though far frae thee, my native shore,
And tossed on life's tempestuous ocean,
My heart-aye Scottish to the core-
Shall cling to thee wi' warm devotion.
And while the waving Heather grows,
And onward rows the winding river,
The toast be "Scotland's broomy knowes,
Her mountains, rocks, and glens forever!"

Alexander Hume (1811-1859)
